I want to mail a package from the U.S. to Afghanistan. How do I do this correctly, so that he receives it?

I have a friend who lives in Afghanistan. I would like to send him a Disney animated movie on DVD, as he has never seen one and would like to. First of all, is it even possible that he would receive something like this and if so, how would I go about packaging it? Should the DVD be in the factory wrapping or opened. How do I keep the DVD package itself safe, so that it is not completely destroyed and the DVD possibly broken during the shipping? I have received packages from friends in Pakistan, and literally it looked as though they had been drug behind a car, and then used as a hockey puck... It is very important to me, that I do all this correctly, so that my package has the best possible chance of arriving to my friend in the best possible condition... Any and all answers will be most greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance. P.S.... I hope I put this question in the right catagory. This is my first time asking a question.

1. Shipping it out will be a problem. The real problem is if it gets shipped will it ever make it to the country. If so will it reach your friend. the chances are a million to one
2. If he has a mailing address you can ship to it, make sure before you send it that its ok for him to have that movie.Whats seems harmless and for children here can get someone in a lot of trouble abroad.
