Is Pakistan friend or foe? The government I am speaking of?

Public Comments

  1. I think it's a case of keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
  2. In the middle - but their current leader is a quasi-friend
  3. being the pragmatic dude he is, the answer is totally up to us. As long as we keep him happy, he'll be our best friend. But if we'd start to treat (threat) him as we treated our old friends (Saddam etc.) he'll become one of our best foes in no time..
  4. At the moment the current leader Gen. Mushereff(spelling) is our friend but it is known the he is on very very thin ice with an population who are not happy with his pro western style views
  5. Pakistan and their government are independent of you and I. Neither friend or foe, they exist without the permission and effort of the west. The same goes for many different countries around the world too, and I'm glad for that because if the whole world was only the West, mankind would be doomed.
  6. I would say friendly, not necessarily a staunch ally though. Pakistan has issues with India with whom we also have decent relations with, by staying on our good side it probably keeps us out of taking sides in their differences. I think they view it as being in their best interest at the moment to be on our good side and it is in our best interest to be on theirs.
  7. They would be friends. We sent troops stationed in Afghanistan to Pakistan in 05 after a massive earthquake. They went without weapons and the sole purpose was for the relief effort. Or maybe...the eathquake relief effort was just a cover story so we could gain border access into Pakistan. Alqueda would attack inside Afhanistan then retreat to the Pakistany border where we couldnt follow.
  8. The govt of Pakistan is mostly a friend, but their are some taliban supporters in the govt. They have been some help in the War Against Islamic Radicals, but they provide a sanctuary for the taliban and al qaeda in the wild, tribal regions. The people of Pakistan hate the US.
  9. both. they are our friend, and they sell nuclear technology to north korea and Iran.
  10. I would not turn my back, without trust Paki stan is no friend
  11. Is a "do as I say" relationship.
  12. In BushWorld everyone that is brown in Asia or the Middle east is a foe (except Israel).
  13. Musharraf friend. The rest of Pakistan vehement foes.
  14. Musharif is an unsteady ally, due to his precarious legal status as president, his current unpopularity, and his consorting with the USA. I'd say we're tolerated at best right now, probably most citizens of Pakistan probably don't care whether we're friends or not. I would not count on them as allies for the long term. - The Gremlin Guy -
  15. The government are pro western however the people dont like us too much,I saw a documenatary on the BBC, which is no friend of the governmentsay at least 50% of Pakistani nationals were 'sympathetic to al-qaeda' especially in the North wich borders Afghanistan
