Iraq: is there a honourable and safe way out for the US?

You may or may not agree with me. But facts are undeniable and interpreting them might be painful. So... We, citizens of planet Earth, long for peace, democracy, forests full of wild animals, economic prosperity... happiness. This is not true even in Hollywood movies. There is no denying that the Iraq quagmire has become more and more of a nightmare. And this tarnishes the glorious past of the nation that emerged from WWII as a motherland of heroes, of freedom fighters. Unfortunately, the US military, intelligence and political decadence, as far as dealing with the world’s problems, was quick to start. The US never won in Korea. It was saved from total and shameful defeat at the last minute by the arranged cease-fire that holds until today. The US was outright defeated in Vietnam, despite every evenings news about how many enemies had been killed and how many bombs had been dropped. Now it is said that invading Iraq was a big mistake because the instability has gotten worse in the Middle East and Al Qaeda is in a even better position to promote hatred and terror actions against the US. And now it has just been announced officially: the strategy for fighting Osama bin Laden’s leadership of Al Qaeda in Pakistan has failed. The White House has released a grim new intelligence assessment that has forced it to consider more aggressive measures inside Pakistan. The US is losing ground on a number of fronts in the fight against Al Qaeda and describes the terrorist organization as having significantly strengthened over the past two years. The main reasons for Al Qaeda’s resurgence: the hands-off approach toward the tribal areas by Pakistan’s president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who last year brokered a cease-fire with tribal leaders in an effort to drain support for Islamic extremism in the region. Meawhile, a bitter Congressional debate about the future of American policy in Iraq goes on. The Bush administration argues that Iraq was and still is the “central front” in the war on terror, because it was where Al Qaeda operatives were directly attacking American forces. However, the Republican government has to fend off accusations that it had been distracted by the war in Iraq and that the deals it had made with President Musharraf had resulted in lost time and lost ground.

  1. the way i would fix the world (or at least Iraq anyways): remove the troops but not without getting as many factions as possible to sign as many peace treaties and truces as possible. i know it's short term buy hey...it helped in Palestine/Israel for a while off and on. it will be just to buy time. the US should admit grievous errors on their part. the international community (NOT the UNeffective U.N.) needs to step in and a large amount of intellectuals, philanthropists and entrepreneurs should form several large think tanks. many goals in mind but really only two main goals: do everything possible to ensure as much peace as possible and all future development proposed by think tanks should be aimed AT Iraq using only Iraqi manpower and all income generated must go directly back into Iraq. so...make treaties for temporary peace, and start thinking the hell out of really smart people and intellectuals who will get alot done with more areas of expertise than the military. i realize that's a dream but hey, you asked my opinion. also...think Lawrence of Arabia's maps of the middle east and how smartly he divided the regions by culture...very smart man...
  2. yes, immediate withdraw. they could go home to protect that south border, I have been hearing alot of crying about that. America being a very new country with almost no history and no culture is like a growing child, it reaches out in all directions at once, trying to define itself, and does not realize it cannot defeat a peoples resistance. Americans may not want to hear this, but the chance of any country defeating an Islamic country in guerrilla war is nil, the Russians been fighting a 400 year+ guerrilla war in Chechnya and have made no gains, in my country we defeated the British in guerrilla war. just like the Americans if occupied would be tough to beat in guerrilla war, as no one likes occupation.
  3. YES!!!
  4. but the USA strategy succeeded at last. it lost only solders only. but re building of the spoiled nations may not be possible in near future.their economy almost looted, their minds filled up with difference of opinion Tobe as one nation. this is DIVIDE N RULE.
  5. The current surge is working and we will win, if Congress allows us to win. Why does it matter to most of you anyway. You all are not in the military and don't have to go over there. Let us do our job and win. Shut the **** up and quit moaning about wars won and lost. Each event in history is unique. We will win if the losers and wimpsin America shut up!
  6. I don't believe there is an easy way out of this war. I feel or the soldiers and their families who have to listen to what a horrible thing this war was and that they are responsible or the mess Iraq is now in. Somehow people have forgotten the tens of thousands tossed into the pits and left to rot by their own govt. Many a road was paved with good intentions.
  7. Yes. Luke 24.44-45,47-49 Knock and ask Moses in Exodus. Will guide how to come up with the yellow ribbon. Once have the yellow ribbon. The missing key will log in. With the third wave of Liberation of Freedom for the good of mankind. Will hit the home-run and save all the little ones world-wide on planet earth. Then all the dead Mummies will rest in peace. Amen. With Humpty Dumpty had a great fall on his own. Luke 9.25

  9. The honorable way "out of Iraq" is to stay there. To abandon Iraq now would be a dishonorable action. Having liberated Iraq of the incredibly oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein, why would the international community allow an even worse set of factions assume power, Al Qaeda, Iranian backed militants, Baathist murderers etc? More aggressive measures in Pakistan are long overdue. The USA's military should buddy up with Pakistani forces to clean up the northern territories there of the Al Qaeda Taliban extremists.
